Sclerotherapy and Laser Destruction of Leg Veins
Leg veins are a common problem due to inheritance patterns and types of physical activity, such as standing or sitting for long hours. For larger distended veins, surgical removal by various methods is often used. For smaller leg veins, 2 methods are often used. The most common method for smaller superficial veins is sclerotherapy. By this method, a sclerosing solution is meticulously injected into the veins which results in their destruction. Most commonly, more than one treatment session is needed. For even smaller veins which cannot be injected, a vascular laser is used. The cosmetic results are usually very good with very little chance of scarring.
